PriceWeber’s Dan Dry Recognized by Ohio University and the Kentucky Derby Museum for Outstanding Contributions

Dan Dry, Director of PriceWeber’s Content Creation Studio, has received two significant honors for his career-spanning photography.

On November 7, 2024, Dan Dry was honored by Ohio University for donating his photography collection, valued at $4.1 million, to his alma mater. During his time at Ohio University, Dan served as the chief photographer for The Athens Messenger, completed two internships with National Geographic, freelanced for various publications, and won top honors in the photojournalism category of the Hearst National Journalism Awards Championship.

“As a student and alumnus, Dan has been foundational in establishing and cultivating an environment of innovation and excellence at OHIO,” said Ohio University President Lori Stewart Gonzalez. “We are thrilled to receive such a vibrant and rich collection of his work, which will provide an important glimpse into OHIO history for many years to come. We are forever grateful for Dan’s generosity.”

On December 3, 2024, Dan Dry received further recognition for his work with the debut of the Kentucky Derby Museum’s highly anticipated exhibit, Through the Lens: Derby Moments by Dan Dry. This remarkable showcase captures nearly 50 years of Derby history, featuring iconic moments, behind-the-scenes candids, and never-before-seen images that celebrate the pageantry, elegance, and enduring spirit of the Kentucky Derby.

“I am deeply honored to have my photographs featured in celebration of this milestone anniversary,” said Dan Dry. “Over the past 46 years, I have had the privilege of capturing the magic of the Kentucky Derby, and every image holds a special place in my heart. To see these moments displayed at the Kentucky Derby Museum is a profound honor, and I am truly grateful to contribute to this extraordinary celebration.” 

Dan has earned more than 500 national and international awards for photography, advertising, and design, solidifying his reputation as one of the nation’s most celebrated photographers. He was a member of The Courier-Journal’s Pulitzer Prize-winning photography staff from 1976 until 1982. Among his many accolades, he was named the National Press Photographers Association (NPPA) Newspaper Photographer of the Year and inducted into the Ohio Communications Hall of Fame at Ohio University. Dan has worked at PriceWeber since 2015.
