PriceWeber Calling on Community to Help Name Popular 40-Foot-Tall Nutcracker

After six years of transforming its belltower into a nearly 40-foot-tall nameless nutcracker, PriceWeber, a digital-forward, full-service marketing, public relations and advertising agency, has decided to give its friendly giant a name and is calling on the community for suggestions. Nominations are now open, and the winning nominator will receive the ultimate holiday gift package featuring items from a few of PriceWeber’s respected clients.

“Since 2015, our nutcracker has been a beloved holiday tradition in Louisville, and we think it’s finally time to give it a name,” said Fred Davis, CEO of PriceWeber. “We hope people will go nuts with it – pun intended – and help us come up with the ultimate name.”

Participants can visit PriceWeber’s website to fill out a nomination form. Nominations will be accepted starting today, Dec. 1, through Friday, Dec. 9. Following nominations, PriceWeber team members will vote on their top three names and open the voting to the public. Community members can vote starting Monday, Dec. 12, through Friday, Dec. 16, on PriceWeber’s social media pages. The winner will be announced Wednesday, Dec. 21, on the agency’s social media pages.

The community member who submits the winning nutcracker name will receive a PriceWeber client appreciation prize package, which features items from several of the agency’s clients and is valued at an estimated $1,000. The package includes tasty treats from The Hershey Company and Amplify Snack Brands, a gift card to Homemade Ice Cream & Pie Kitchen, swag from the Louisville Regional Airport Authority, a water bottle courtesy of the Louisville Water Company, a family membership to the Louisville Zoo, a gift card to treat yourself at Tranquility Salon & Spa, and a canvas print of Muhammad Ali photographed and signed by PriceWeber’s award-winning photographer, Dan Dry. If the same name is submitted numerous times from multiple community members, a drawing will be held to select one nominator per name. Participants must live in Kentucky to win the local prize package.

Standing 39 feet and six inches tall, the nutcracker has become a beloved local tradition since 2015, spreading holiday cheer to travelers on Shelbyville Road in Louisville. Each year, PriceWeber has transformed its decommissioned bell tower into the giant nutcracker, fully equipped with a moving jaw that can actually crack a nut.

The nutcracker was only the beginning of PriceWeber’s use of the belltower to promote clients and support community causes. The belltower has also displayed a giant red dress for the American Heart Association’s American Heart Month in February; featured local organ donor recipients, in collaboration with Kentucky Organ Donor Affiliates, for National Donate Life Month in April; become a giant s’more for National S’mores Day in August in honor of The Hershey Company; and displayed a pink ribbon for Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October.
