Challenge
The champagne and sparkling wine segment is constantly challenged to break out of traditional usage occasions (e.g. New Year’s Eve) in order to grow volume and increase trial. PriceWeber was challenged to help grow KORBEL California Champagne case sales 5-10 percent year-over-year by creating new seasonal opportunities and occasions for potential consumers.
SOLUTION
Based on consumer research, PriceWeber helped identify secondary seasonal, regional, and occasion-based opportunities where consumers would be open to incremental champagne/sparkling wine purchase.
Because of the heavy competition for facings and display space off premise and cooler space on premise in the wine industry, PriceWeber recommended leveraging custom bottle wraps to stand out on shelf for each occasion. Wrap themes included the summer season and Valentine’s Day, but also a gift-giving wrap, packaging specifically for nightclub bottle service, and our first location-focused packaging for New Orleans.
