Standing 39 feet and six inches tall, the National Addy award-winning nutcracker has returned to Louisville, Ky., where it is now social distancing outside of local advertising agency, PriceWeber. This year, PriceWeber is leveraging a much-loved annual tradition to spread a very important message – wear a mask this holiday season.
The nutcracker has been taking notes from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear, and is masking up this holiday season to make sure the only thing it’s spreading is holiday cheer. PriceWeber can also now announce that it has the world’s tallest masked nutcracker.
“Each holiday season, PriceWeber transforms its belltower into a nutcracker for the local community,” said Fred Davis, CEO of PriceWeber. “Since the Nutcracker first made its appearance in 2015, this has turned into a tradition that the local community looks forward to every year. Even during the current pandemic, we wanted to carry on the tradition, so our nutcracker will join Team Kentucky and wear a mask to keep our community safe.”
Over the last five holiday seasons, PriceWeber has repurposed its decommissioned bell tower into the giant nutcracker, fully equipped with a moving jaw that can crack a nut – if we had a ladder tall enough to test it out.
Since the Nutcracker first appeared in 2015, the innovative installation has evolved into a quarterly opportunity to showcase PriceWeber’s clients and support for community causes. The belltower has also been transformed into a giant, red dress for American Heart Month in February, a s’more for National S’mores Day in August, and a pink ribbon for Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October.
