As Sexual Assault Awareness Month is underway, two Kentucky organizations are proud to announce national recognition for their impactful campaign to raise sexual assault awareness statewide.

PriceWeber, a Louisville-based marketing and public relations agency, collaborated with the Kentucky Association of Sexual Assault Programs (KASAP) in 2023 to produce the hour-long documentary “Believe Me – Help and Hope for Sexual Assault Survivors.” Their efforts recently garnered national recognition from PRWeek, with the documentary and accompanying public relations initiatives earning them a prestigious award in the “Best in Community Relations” category at the PRWeek Awards held at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City on Friday, March 15.

Premiering in April 2023, “Believe Me” aired statewide on Kentucky Educational Television (KET). It showcased compelling narratives from sexual assault survivors in Kentucky while disseminating essential information about available resources in the state. The accompanying public relations efforts notably boosted the documentary’s impact during Sexual Assault Awareness Month, leading to a significant 6% increase in crisis calls during the promotional period.

“We are honored to accept this award, but our greatest pride lies in our partnership with KASAP to elevate the voices of sexual assault survivors and raise awareness,” said Fred Davis, CEO of PriceWeber. “This recognition underscores the importance of our collective efforts to advocate for change and support survivors on their journey to healing.”

“I couldn’t be prouder of this project and its impact in raising awareness,” said Missie Quillen, Executive Director, Kentucky Association of Sexual Assault Programs. “It’s not just about receiving recognition; it’s about amplifying the voices of survivors and sparking crucial conversations that lead to positive change. This project embodies our commitment to advocacy, education, and support.”

The PRWeek Awards is established as the highest accolade in the communications industry. The Awards celebrate the best of the best corporate, agency, nonprofit, and education teams, and the work they produced during the entry period.

“The 2024 PRWeek Awards represents the silver anniversary of what has become the biggest night on the PR industry calendar. It’s an important milestone in the evolution of an industry that now matters more than ever, and the quality of the winning work and the individuals, teams, brands and agencies that spearhead this excellence in the 25th Awards give everyone something to aspire to emulate,” said Steve Barrett, VP, editorial director, PRWeek.
